Never argue religion or politics

Age-old wisdom teaches us to never argue politics or religion. This is good advice. Dale Carnegie tried to teach us to simply not argue at all. He said you might win your point but lose the good will of your adversary. Which is better? Sam Walton said, “The customer is always right.” He built a business empire on that theme. He was taken in many times, but most people are honest enough, and Sam knew this, so he still came out very much on top. Walmart is a large testimonial to just how right Sam Walton was.
I never argue except for one thing. I do defend my faith that Jesus is the only way to heaven. The Lord declared, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6). You will certainly hear, sooner or later, in our society people in high places proclaim that there are many ways to heaven. This is a devil’s lie. You will hear another lie, that all religions are OK and all lead to God. Another devil’s lie. The truth is, as Jesus proclaimed, no one goes to heaven who does not believe His gospel and trust in Christ as personal Savior.
Most people, out of timidness, will not defend the truth, though it is the job of every Christian. Neither will most Christians witness for our Lord, though that is also our charge. Why is there so much misinformation and lies about things of critical importance and eternal consequences? Satan. The devil propagates his lies to keep people deceived and on the broad road to hell. Also, humans are too lazy to think for themselves. Most do not read the truth as revealed in God’s Word and do not attend church to hear the truth proclaimed.
There is an old song entitled, “Wagon Tracks.” It speaks of how different it is today. Most people once went to church on Sunday, though they had to walk, ride a horse, or wagon. Today with fine cars, people just sit home. The Bible enjoins all Christians to attend church. Hebrews 10:25 explicitly tells us to fail not at assembling ourselves. The Bible is God’s speaking. He wants us to assemble for worship, praise, fellowship, and hear His Word proclaimed. But the devil wants everyone to sit home and maybe hear heresy from some of the TV evangelists who just want your money.
Most churches are sad sights with their empty pews, which I call “sad pews.” I do this because there are people in desperate need of coming to church and sitting in those pews, so they can hear the truth proclaimed. Truly saved people have a continuous joy in their salvation. They know their souls are secure and surely going to heaven the moment they die. However, choosing Christ as Savior is a very urgent matter because this life is the only opportunity a person has to be saved.
