SYLVESTER — If the first half of Thomasville’s Region 1-AA game Friday night at Worth County was a track meet, the Bulldogs lapped the Rams over and over again en route to 42 points before halftime.

The Bulldogs tallied 263 first-quarter yards, 466 in the first half off 50 plays, scored on all six possessions and ran the Rams out of Worth County Stadium before intermission.

Thomasville improved to 2-0 in region play with a 56-28 thumping of the Rams.

“I think our speed was good. We really focused this week on YAC – yards after contact, with our offense and with our defense,” Thomasville coach Zach Grage said. “We’re trying to maximize it offensively and minimize it defensively. If you look at the speed and you look at the quickness, I think our guys had a ton of yards after contact. If you look at one spot on this team, it’s been our backs that have had a bunch of accolades coming in. Thank goodness we were able to go out and have some success tonight.”

Thomasville finished with a balanced offensive attack that netted 600 yards. It rushed for 382 while quarterback Ronnie Baker threw for 218 and two touchdowns. Baker also rushed for 107 yards, including a 68-yard touchdown on the team’s first play of the third quarter. Sophomore running back Ricky Fulton led the Bulldogs with 165 rushing yards and three touchdown jaunts of 67, 45 and 40 yards. He also recorded a 4-yard touchdown reception.

Fulton’s backfield mate, junior Malik Harper added 94 yards on the ground, including one 19-yard touchdown run.

“Our O-line tonight was unbelievable,” Grage said. “E very down they re-established the line of scrimmage, getting up to the next level; played a lot of kids on the O-line, and I thought they were unbelievable all night.”

Thomasville has won two straight heading into next week’s region home game against Cook.
