THOMASVILLE — With a pair of big scissors handy, the ribbon was cut Thursday morning for the Residence at Oak Grove.

The 80-unit assisted living and memory care community held its grand opening, opening the doors for its prospective residents and getting a welcome from the Thomasville and Thomas County community.

“What a magnificent facility and great addition to our community,” said state Rep. Darlene Taylor (R-Thomasville). “We have been looking forward to this for a while and it is absolutely beautiful, more beautiful than the plans were.”

The Residence at Oak Grove is the first facility in Georgia and it took its name from the nursery where WV Development owner Matt Price’s grandmother shopped.

The facility encompasses 48,000 square feet and represents an investment of more than $14 million.

“It goes without saying I am super excited,” Price said. “A couple of years ago, it was only a dream. What we’ve accomplished here could not have done without a huge team of people who believed in this community.”

Thomasville Payroll Development Authority Executive Director Shelley Zorn called the opening “another big wonderful exciting day for our community.”

“We are so pleased to have them here,” she said.

Among the Residence at Oak Grove’s amenities are a walking trail, along with exercise rooms, a theater, a lounge/library area and a salon.

The facility also will have on-site medical care and visiting practitioners.

“What will separate the Residence at Oak Grove is mixing business with care, 100% continuity of care for our residents,” said Executive Director Tamar Brown.
