CAIRO — Nearly 100 new cases of the novel coronavirus have been diagnosed in Grady County in the past 14 days, according to publicly available health data.

The Southwest Georgia Public Health District says 34 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded in Grady County this week as of late Friday morning, bringing the county’s total up to 362 since data was first recorded. The data brings the county’s total number of new cases in the 14-day period from July 14 to July 31 to 92. Fifty-eight cases of the virus were identified last week.

Officials with Archbold Medical Center say six patients were hospitalized with the virus earlier this week at Grady General Hospital.

Information on dates for specimen collection tests in the month of August is not yet available. Testing appointments can be made at the Grady County Health Department by calling (229) 352-6567 from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays or between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Saturdays.

Patients can visit covid19.dph.ga.gov and select “Take the Screening Questionnaire” to begin the application process.
