A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for parts of southwest Georgia, including Thomas County.

According to the National Weather Service, severe thunderstorms were located along a line extending from 6 miles west of Newton to 8 miles north of West Bainbridge to 12 miles northwest of Chattahoochee, moving east at 50 mph.

Hazards include 70 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

Hail damage to vehicles is expected. Expect considerable tree damage. Wind damage is also likely to mobile homes, roofs, and outbuildings.
