Spring tire amnesty day event rolling back around
Published 6:54 pm Tuesday, March 24, 2020
Thomasville-Thomas County residents will have another chance to dispose of those unwanted tires for free, during the Spring Tire Amnesty Day Event on Friday, April 10, Saturday, April 11 and Sunday April 12.
Thomas County Solid Waste, Thomas County Code Enforcement, City of Thomasville Solid Waste and Keep Thomas County Beautiful, will join forces in an effort to help keep the community safe and beautiful.
As weather starts warming up, the mosquito breeding season begins. They prefer warm and humid climates and can survive in temperatures between 50 and 95 degrees Fahrenheit. They also require water for laying their eggs, which hatch in 24 to 72 hours.
Help keep your property and the property of your neighbors safer by disposing of those unwanted tires. If you know of someone who has those extra tires and they do not have a way to get them to the dumpsites, lend them a helping hand.
You may drop off your tires at the collection sites during the days of this event only. Locations are:
Thomas County sites: Hansell Road, Stewart Road, Sunset Drive, Highways 188 and 202, Highway 84 East (Boston), Dillon Road, Patten-Coolidge Road, and Highway 19 North at Riverwood.
City of Thomasville site: Behind EMS/Fire Station off Remington Avenue at Recycling Center.
The limit is 12 tires per household. It is open to Thomasville and Thomas County residents. Only bike, car and light truck tires will be accepted. Tires must be de-rimmed.
Tires from vendors or commercial businesses will not be accepted.
