CAIRO — A man investigators say goes by the nickname “Boss” is behind bars and is facing multiple narcotics charges after authorities seized drugs from his residence.
Officers with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office Drug Unit executed a search warrant at a residence on the 300 block of Miles Avenue at around 10 a.m. Monday. There they uncovered nine ounces of marijuana and several prescription pain pills they say were being distributed illegally by the residence’s owner, Robert Lee James.

“We’ve been investigating him for probably about a month and a half,” said Chris Luckey, Drug Unit commander.
Luckey said the sheriff’s office had been receiving tips concerning James and began piecing together a puzzle that led them to believe illegal narcotics were being sold from James’ residence. They also learned that James went by the street nickname “Boss.”
“We don’t know how he obtained the nickname, but a lot of people knew him only as that,” Luckey said. “People didn’t know his real name.”
Also seized during the search was $1,200 cash which authorities believe was derived from illegal transactions and a 9mm handgun. Though the firearm’s chamber was empty, a fully loaded magazine was located nearby.
James, 45, has been charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a schedule 2 controlled substance with intent to distribute. Both charges are felonies.
