CAIRO — Authorities say a suspect found prowling around a Grady County residence was “casually” smoking marijuana when law enforcement arrived.
A concerned homeowner called 911 Friday afternoon after spotting an suspicious individual in their backyard. When deputies with the Grady County Sheriff’s Office arrived at the residence on the 5000 block of U.S. Highway 84 East, they found Julian Lee Graham smoking a marijuana cigar in the backyard.

“We don’t know what his intentions were, but where he was located he shouldn’t have been,” said Chris Luckey, commander of the Grady County Drug Unit.
Graham, 44, initially told deputies he was waiting for the homeowner to return to the residence so he could purchase a vehicle, but authorities say his continued stories were conflicting, and the drug unit was eventually called to the scene to assist with further investigation.
Investigators say they’re unsure why Graham, a Tallahassee, Florida, resident with a history of drug charges, was in the area.
A sheriff’s office press release states that Graham was found to be in possession of an undisclosed amount of cash, multiple bags of marijuana, an unidentified “crystal-like” substance and a loaded Ruger P90 handgun.
Graham was transported to the Grady County Detention Center where he remains in custody on charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
