CAIRO — Caison Faircloth homered and went 3-for-3, driving in two runs, and the Cairo Syrupmakers held off the Thomasville Bulldogs 4-3 Friday night.
Faircloth also doubled, and Will Prince went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.
Faircloth’s two-run shot capped a four-run first inning for the Syrupmakers.
Thomasville got within a run on Jaylen Jones’ three-run shot in the third. But the Bulldogs managed just one other hit — Hurston Waldrep’s single — off Garrett Gainous and Blake Touchton
Gainous went six innings to get the win, striking out eight but walking six and allowing two hits. Touchton fanned two in a clean seventh inning to earn the save.
Waldrep struck out six and walked one. He allowed just two singles after Faircloth’s homer in his four innings.
Gabe Duncan threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings and Ben Rawlings went one-third of an inning for the Bulldogs.
Cairo, now 3-0, will travel to Dougherty on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. game. Thomasville will begin play in the Georgia Dugout Club Tournament on February 22 against Allatoona at LakePoint Sports in Emerson.
