City council makes panel appointments

THOMASVILLE — Thomasville City Council unanimously approved a slate of residents to serve on various boards, commissions and authorities.

Appointments include:

• Airport Advisory Board — Hal Jackson 

• Architectural Review & Zoning Appeals Board — Royal Baker 

• Building Contractors Examining Board — David Dunn 

• Downtown Development Authority — Krystal Gainous, Ray Thompson, Rodney Hunter, Ron Dixon 

• Historic Preservation Board — Chris Linton, Jackie Ellis

• Housing Authority — Frank Delaney, Arthur Miles

• Main Street Advisory Board — Cynthia Drayton, Pam Hoveland, Heather Abbott, Kenya Carter, Henry Peppin, Whitney White, Morgan Bailey, Rhonda Foster

• Thomasville Payroll Development Authority — Ty Turner, Stephen Cheney, Mark NeSmith

• Thomasville Planning & Zoning Commission — Constance Hudson, Lucinda Brown

• Southwest Georgia Regional Commission — Wanda Warren

• Thomasville/Thomas County Recreation Advisory Board — Keith Tyrone Thomas, Craig Wentworth

• Tree & Landscape — Matt Dukes, Sydni Barwick, Devona Thompson

Council member Jay Flowers said decisions made by the various panels make a big difference in information that goes to council for consideration. Most people appointed to the panels were names submitted by individuals who want to serve, he said.

City Manager Alan Carson commended council for “coming together” on the appointments, pointing out the unanimous vote.

Carson added the mayor and mayor pro tem worked with other council members to attain the final list.
