TALLAHASSEE, Florida — Tallahassee Downtown wants you to “Countdown Downtown” at Cascades Park, hosted by the Downtown Improvement Authority and presented by Visit Tallahassee, a division of Leon County.
This year’s event has something for everyone. With two fireworks shows, sponsored by the City of Tallahassee and two bands playing, local legends The Fried Turkeys and Tallahassee Nights Live. IHeartMedia will emcee the event at Capital City Amphitheater Stage.
Headliner Tallahassee Nights Live is planning to pull out all the stops and bring along their full band for the best experience. Fans will enjoy their energy, talent, and diverse musical genres.
In addition to the live musical entertainment, there will be family-friendly activities and local food trucks, as well as all the amenities that Cascades Park has to offer, including the Discovery playground. Attendees are welcome to bring their own food and drinks. Local nonprofits and food trucks will be on site with food and beer available for purchase. One hundred percent of alcohol sales at the event go to support local nonprofit, the Downtown Business Association. The events are open to all ages; no tickets or advance registration are required. There is ample parking at and around Cascades Park. Patrons who do not want to drive can take advantage of the free downtown trolley or Uber and Lyft.
CEO, Elizabeth Emmanuel stated: “We are so excited to bring new energy to the New Year’s Eve Event,” said CEO Elizabeth Emmanuel. “For the past few years the community has come out to Cascades for a brief fireworks show. This year we’re giving our community a reason to come downtown and stay for a while. We had an incredibly successful Sundown Concert Series partnering with Visit Tallahassee, a Division of Leon County which further activated the Capital City Amphitheatre and had a positive economic impact on the community. This event will continue that success- and provide a fun free way to countdown to 2020!”
The event itself will wrap up at 10 p.m., offering the opportunity to head home or hit the downtown. There are several restaurants hosting parties with no cover charge, from the Edison, Andrews, Rootstock and Eve on Adams at the DoubleTree. CollegeTown will have a free midnight fireworks, for those who want to catch another great show!
