Local author to have book signing
The Friends of the Library invite everyone to attend an afternoon with Brenda Knight Graham as she talks about her latest book, “Christmas Carols in My Hearts” on Thursday, December 12 from 4-6 p.m. at the Roddenbery Memorial Library. Tea and cider will be served and space is limited so please call the library and make reservations.
Library to host holiday cooking party
The Roddenbery Memorial Library will be hosting a Holiday Cooking Party this Saturday, November 30 at 9 a.m. If you would like to participate, please call the library at 377-3632. The library will be closed on Thursday and Friday of this week for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Installation service for new pastor
The installation service for the Rev. Dr. Dellis Cox will be held at the Mt. Pilgrim M.B. Church on Pinetree Boulevard this Sunday, December 1 beginning at 3 p.m. The Rev. Bernard Sales will be deliver the message and the Beulah M.B. Church is in charge of the service. Everyone is invited to attend.
County and city offices closed for Thanksgiving
The City of Cairo and Grady County Offices will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 28 and Friday, November 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday. Normal businesses hours for both the city and county offices will resume on Monday, December 2.
Chamber still selling tickets for 20/20 raffle
The Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce is still selling tickets for their 20 Guns in 20 Days Raffle. Each ticket is $20 and gives the holder 20 chance to win 20 different guns to be given away starting December 1. Only 1,000 tickets for the raffle will be sold and tickets are currently available at South Georgia Outdoors, United National Bank, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Mug to benefit foster children
The Church of Grady County is spearheading an effort to raise money to purchase Christmas gifts for foster children in the community by selling a Christmas in the South commemorative mug during the holiday season. All proceeds from the sale of the collectible mugs, which will featuring a different scene from the community each year, will go directly to buying Christmas gifts for children in foster care. The mugs are $15 each and are available from members of the church, at United National Bank and Wheelers Christmas Tree Farm.
Annual Cairo Christmas Parade coming
The Annual Cairo Christmas Parade, sponsored by the Cairo-Grady County Chamber of Commerce and the Cairo Merchants, will be held on December 5 starting at 7 p.m. The theme for this year’s parade will be “Christmas Under the Big Top.” The parade will begin at the Chamber and travel along North Broad Street south to the First United Methodist Church.
