CAIRO — A traffic stop for a speeding driver led to two arrests for numerous drug offenses and a months-old burglary.

Brandon Lee Warren, 22, was the passenger in a vehicle initially pulled over by a Georgia State Patrol trooper for speeding, but when the trooper saw a firearm with its serial number altered, the Grady County Sheriff’s Office was called for backup.

Law enforcement located several items inside the vehicle commonly used for drug use, an incident report states, but that wasn’t all.

When a trooper asked Warren to remove his boots and socks, they uncovered a glass pipe and a small plastic bag with a white powdery substance. The incident report states that Warren indicated the substance was cocaine.

Warren was transported to the the Grady County Detention Center where he was charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a drug-related object. The vehicle’s driver, 31-year-old James Hilton Griffin III, was charged with speeding, driving under the influence, possession of a firearm with an altered serial number and possession of a drug-related object.

The traffic stop occurred on Highway 93 South near Smith Road.

Warren’s charges didn’t end there. Investigators say video surveillance was able to identify him in connection to an Aug. 5 burglary at Automotive Collision Center.

Warren is accused of breaking into the property and stealing more than $200 in miscellaneous tools. He has been charged with burglary in connection to the incident.

A similar burglary took place at the Automotive Collision Center last week, though authorities say they are unsure if Warren was involved in the latter incident.
