MOULTRIE, Ga. — A trio of contested city council seats resulted in a split decision by Moultrie voters Tuesday.

In two races, incumbents were re-elected, while in the third the challenger was victorious.

In District 1, Post 1, incumbent Lisa Clarke Hill overcame challenger Eddie Warren, 168 votes to 127.

In District 2, Post 3, Cole Posey won the seat over incumbent Angela Castellow, 433-387.

In District 2, Post 4, incumbent Cecil Barber held onto the seat over challenger Rachel Weeks, 565-237.

Results of the voting were posted on the door of the Moultrie Municipal Building when the count was finished about 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, roughly 2-1/2 hours after polls closed.

Posey and Weeks were the only two candidates waiting outside the building for the results to be posted.

Posey praised his opponent for running a great race, and he looked forward to the challenges once he takes office in January.

“We’re ready to see this community ride this wave of growth,” Posey said, specifically citing the opening of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine’s campus on Tallokas Road.

Longtime Mayor William McIntosh was also re-elected without opposition.
