Howell named state Special Olympics outstanding volunteer

Thomasville resident Jack Howell recently was honored by the Special Olympics of Georgia as its Outstanding Adult Volunteer.
For 17 years, Howell has served as a dedicated volunteer swim coach for the YMCA, where he works with children with special needs. In that time, he has taught swimming to hundreds of children. Several of his swimmers have gone on to win medals at the state Special Olympics games.
Howell was selected for the service award among volunteers from across the state of Georgia.
