JENNINGS, Fla. — After eight years as Jennings Town Manager, George Glover has turned in his resignation.
Glover was a law enforcement officer from 1995-2011, and throughout his tenure as town manage, he maintained his standards and files through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and is considering a possible career change.
“I will miss the Town of Jennings, including all of the residents and my colleagues tremendously,” Glover said. “It has been both a pleasure and a privilege to work for and with all of you. I hope that moving forward my service over the years will help the town grow and function efficiently and that my successor will truly have the town’s best interest at the forefront of their mind, and accomplishes great things for Jennings.”
Glover submitted his resignation Oct. 10 and his last day is set to be today. The town’s deadline for submitting applications for a new town manager ended Monday.
During Glover’s eight year tenure, the town secured approximately $5 million in grant funding, which included bathroom facility upgrades at Cunningham Park, SCOP projects to pave roads in town and earlier this year was awarded $316,499 worth of state funding through the Rural Infrastructure Fund to purchase a new 25,000 gallon aeration tank for its water treatment plant.
The town has also implemented animal control in the town and launched the July 4 weekend festival and fireworks show in Cunningham Park under Glover’s guidance.
The town also has recently moved its offices into the old North Hamilton Elementary School property and has since negotiated to remain there in addition to Corinth Christian Academy purchasing the property to move its school to the property.
