Artisans, food court add to Boston fun

BOSTON — As runners and walkers are completing the course Saturday, downtown Boston will be bustling with activity.
By 9 a.m., food vendors and artisans will be open for business.
For the first time, the food court will be set up in the parking lot at Synovus Bank on West Jefferson Street, said Christine Welsh, festival co-chairman. Picnic tables will be in the center where you can sit to enjoy your festival fare.”
Pecan Hill Coffee Roasters will sell coffee by the cup or the bag. Several vendors, including Michael Smith from Homecoming Restaurant will offer traditional catfish, chicken, hot dogs and hamburgers. Other choices include sausage dogs and chili dogs from New Destiny Deliverance Ministry, Richardson BBQ will have BBQ plates and sandwiches, Brunswick stew and fried Oreos.
Looking for alligator? Find Randy Roberts’ booth, where he also will serve fried rice. Horace Brown adds turkey legs and ribs to selections, and Yolanda Rucker offers goat on her menu. Katrina Lee adds greens and mac ‘n’ cheese, and find Elliot Norwood for wings and nachos. LaWanda Jackson will serve wings and slushies. Mark Futch brings a bit of the coast to town with crab boil. Roderick Bank will offer Italian Ice.
Boston’s Main Street Café and The Buzzery, as well as B & B Deli inside Murphy’s, will be open to serve festival-goers, along with other Boston businesses.
The arts/crafts area will offer a wide selection of handmade, homemade and unique items, including a festival favorite Angela Shaw with homemade baked goods, Dave Richards with handmade wooden bowls and kitchen items and Louise Bivins with handmade jewelry. Cannon Knifer’s handmade cross suncatchers or a hand-quilted bag will be available from Denise Bennett.
Sandra Chaput’s will provide a selection of oils and watercolors. Unique painted items from Mary Lou Sevigny will be available, along with art, candles and wood products from Under the Pines. Look for Rhonda Griffin Tessler, who will offer acrylic on canvas paintings with ag themes, Terri Walker/Dandelion’s seasonal wreaths and flowers, and Pavo Civic Club’s handmade items and raffle tickets for a Christmas quilt.
Haley Hankey Ozier returns to Boston with handmade jewelry and plants. Jennifer Guinn offers homemade salsa, and Kayla Beatty will be on hand with handmade soaps and body scrubs. Savanna Brumley’s will sell homemade baked goods, and Leslie Johnson will offer handmade baskets.
Debra Ganas and Funky Flower Foto Booth will be at the festival. A special treat for Dukes of Hazard fans will be the “General Lee.” Uncle Jesse and Bo will be on hand to help register people for rides while they check out Keelan Kirkland’s art.
The Boston Mini-Marathon and Festival is sponsored by the Boston Community Club.
