THOMASVILLE — A man who literally escaped a cocaine arrest in 2018 is back home selling the crack form of the contraband from his front porch, according to the Thomas County/Thomasville Narcotics/Vice Division commander.

Drug agents executed a search warrant at Williams’ 321 W. Monroe St. residence a year ago, but Williams was nowhere to be found.

“We were looking for him for a long time,” said Louis Schofill, commander of the Narcotics/Vice Division. “His family was letting us know he did not live here anymore.”

About 4 p.m. Thursday, narcotics/vice officers learned Williams had returned home. Agents found him sitting on the front porch.

“On the porch near him was another intent amount of cocaine and a digital scale,” Schofill said.

When he absconded last year, Williams was on probation for a drug conviction. In addition to the narcotics/vice warrant taken out in 2018 by narcotics/vice, the probation office also had a warrant for his arrest.

The 23-year-old suspect is charged with two counts of cocaine possession with intent to distribute — one count from 2018 and one from Thursday. He also is charged with misdemeanor marijuana possession and possession of a drug-related object.

Schofill said drug agents do not know where Williams has been for the past year, but they plan to find out when he is interviewed.

Meanwhile, the suspect is being held at the Thomas County Jail.
