TALLAHASSEE, Florida — A fugitive who was the subject of a multi-county manhunt Sunday has been captured in Florida.

Police officers in Tallahassee, Florida located Terrance Bernard Weston of Attapulgus in the early morning hours of Oct. 7.

Weston, 28, is wanted in connection to an assault in Decatur County which took place Oct. 4 on the 7000 block of Tallahassee Highway.

Officials in Decatur County had given a heads-up over the weekend to the Grady County Sheriff’s Office that Weston was believed to be in the area. Deputies were told to be on the lookout.

Weston was spotted on foot by Grady County deputies Sunday afternoon on State Highway 111 near the intersection with U.S. Highway 27. The intersection is near the meeting point between Grady and Decatur counties and Gadsden County, Florida.

Deputies gave chase, but Weston was able to avoid capture by fleeing into the nearby woods. Law enforcement from Grady, Decatur and Gadsden counties then spent the next two hours attempting to locate Weston, but their efforts were unsuccessful. A tracking dog was unable to pick up Weston’s trail.

The Tallahassee Police Department picked up Weston around 5:47 a.m. Monday.

Court records show Weston signed a waiver of extradition to be brought back to Decatur County where he has been charged with one count of aggravated assault (family violence), two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, one count theft by taking and one count terroristic threats and acts.
