CAIRO — A multi-county effort to locate a suspected criminal over the weekend was unsuccessful.

Law enforcement from Grady, Decatur and Gadsden counties participated in a two-hour manhunt Sunday for Terrance Bernard Weston, but ultimately came up empty.

Grady County deputies spotted Weston, 28, on foot at around 4 p.m. on Georgia Highway 111 near the intersection with U.S. Highway 27. The intersection is near the meeting point between Grady and Decatur counties, Georgia and Gadsden County, Florida.

Weston evaded capture by fleeing into the nearby woods.

“My deputies tell me he’s fast on his feet,” said Grady County Sheriff Harry Young.

For the next two hours, Grady County deputies assisted other agencies from Decatur and Gadsden counties in locating Weston, but to no avail. A tracking dog was unable to pick up Weston’s scent.

Residents who see Weston are encouraged to call 911 immediately to provide his location.

“He is dangerous to society,” Young said

It is unknown if Weston is armed.

The Grady County Sheriff’s Office received word from officials in Gadsden and Decatur counties that Weston was believed to be in the area. Deputies were told to be on the lookout.

Weston, who currently resides in Attapulgus, is wanted in connection to an assault in Decatur County. Warrants have been issued there for his arrest on one count of aggravated assault (family violence), two counts of cruelty to children in the third degree, one count theft by taking and one count terroristic threats and acts.

The Cairo Police Department arrested Weston in May for several unrelated charges.
