And for Brookwood, it certainly beats the alternative of going into an open week with a loss.

Brookwood outlasted Loganville Christian 13-10 Friday night at Warriors Stadium, winning its second straight and improving to 3-2 on the season.

“It’s so big momentum-wise,” Boggs said. “It helps you enjoy this time, but we’ve got mistakes we have to correct on Monday.”

The Warriors scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 6-yard scamper from Mac Brandon with 4:22 left. Then after Loganville Christian marched to the Brookwood 9-yard line, the Warriors batted away quarterback Cole Price’s passing attempt at the goal line to preserve the victory with 10 seconds left.

The Lions were already flagged for illegal procedure before Price’s throw but when the play failed, Loganville Christian turned the ball over on downs.

And the game.

“They weren’t set,” Boggs said. “We knew it was going to come back if they made it, but they weren’t set.”

Brookwood survived losing three fumbles, including one on a blocked punt that Loganville Christian’s Austin Coleman returned 20 yards for a score to give the Lions a 10-7 advantage.

Loganville blocked two punts in the game.

Another fumble led to Carter Smith’s 29-yard field goal at the 6:41 mark to cut Brookwood’s lead to 7-3.

After Brookwood’s Marcus West scored on a 4-yard run on the Warriors’ first possession of the game, the team didn’t have much success on offense. In fact, they crossed midfield just once in the second half which came on their scoring drive.

“It was a great win,” Brandon said. “We were a little down at halftime, but we bowed up and fought back and got a great W.”

Brandon also led a defense that kept Loganville Christian’s offense out of the end zone. He intercepted a key pass in the end zone with 2:13 left in the third quarter when Loganville threatened to score on second-and-7 from the 21.

Loganville Christian coach Patrick Stewart took the blame. He said his team played well enough to win.

“No words man,” Stewart said. “Definitely not the players’ fault … it’s my fault, I will tell you that. They played with the relentless effort we ask of them every day. So I’ll take the blame on this one.

“We played unbelievable. We played great, every aspect from special teams, offense, defense, there were no negatives. Coaches will take this one.”

The Warriors are off until playing host to The Heritage School of Newnan on Oct. 4. But Boggs said he and his players want to enjoy this one for now.

“It was a great game … two good teams, two talented teams,” Boggs said. “Our guys just fought and overcame some mistakes at times. You find out what you’re made out of when you get down here on the goal line after fighting through a lot of extremes. We played really good defense and made one more play than them. It’s good to be on that side of the ball.”
