Syrupmaids power past Lady Bulldogs

CAIRO — The Cairo Syrupmaids scored four runs in the third inning and pulled away for a 7-1 win over Thomasville in a non-region softball game Wednesday.

Peyton Pearson homered and drove in two runs and Chambria Vicks and Kayla Grigsby hit solo homers. Rainey Thompson was 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Turner Mabry Baggett allowed one earned run on four hits in the complete-game victory.

Mallory Fletcher was 2-for-3 with a homer for the Lady Bulldogs. Allyson Mirick struck out five and gave up four earned runs on seven hits.

Thomasville will host Cairo, which beat Americus-Sumter 17-0 Thursday, on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
