CAIRO — The Grady County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into a death they believe may have been caused by a drug overdose.
The victim, a 38-year-old white male whose name has been withheld, was found by his girlfriend in the backyard of his Cain Road residence shortly before 4 a.m. Thursday.
When the victim appeared unresponsive, his girlfriend began screaming for help.
A nearby neighbor overheard the commotion and called 911.
By the time deputies and emergency medical services arrived, the man was dead.
Investigators believe drugs may have been a contributing factor in the man’s death, but that suspicion is unconfirmed.
The sheriff’s office is awaiting the results of a crime lab report.
No foul play is suspected in the death.
