Dalton police searching for man who shot 2 people Sunday night; considered ‘armed and dangerous’

DALTON, Ga. — The Dalton Police Department is investigating a late-night shooting incident that sent two people to local hospitals with injuries that are not considered to be life-threatening. The man who investigators identified as the shooter, 21-year-old Jobanie Martinez, is still at large.
Martinez, of Dalton, is wanted on warrants for two counts of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, burglary in the first degree and criminal violation of the Georgia Street Gang Act. He is considered armed and dangerous.
The victims and the shooter knew each other.
The incident happened at approximately 11 p.m. Sunday at a residence on Dozier Street in Dalton. Investigators believe that Martinez and the residents were associates and have been in some sort of a dispute. Investigators say that Martinez went to the residence shortly after 11 and after being there a short time, began shooting at the victims with a handgun. Martinez then fled. The victims, a 21-year-old male and a 15-year-old male, were taken to local hospitals and are expected to survive.
