Dr. Cheryl Larkins, principal of Northside Elementary School in Cairo, has been selected as Soror of the Year for the Lambda Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. This honor was bestowed on her for the 2018-19 year.

This premier Greek letter service organization is proud to recognize a woman who has shown a high level of achievement in her professional endeavors as well as one who has exhibited exemplary performance in sorority activities.

One of her most notable attributes has been her outstanding efforts with teen projects. She is dedicated to mentoring youth and furthering the goals of the sorority’s initiatives in that area. She helps young adults to develop positive self-esteem, to set goals and to help them realize their value by coordinating their participation in community service. She renders service to all mankind in all areas of her life. Dr. Larkins is a model of the Alpha Kappa Alpha woman.
