Library open house Thursday

Roddenbery Memorial Library officials invite the community to come see their renovated facility and also honor retired library director Pamela Grigg during a special Open House scheduled for this Thursday, July 11 from 3 to 6 p.m. The library just finished a year-long renovation of its facilities. This will be an opportunity for the public to see all of the changes to the revamped building. In addition, this will also be a time to show appreciation to the library’s recently retired director, Pamela Grigg, who helped oversee the renovation project. Everyone in the community is encouraged to attend.

Reno Baptist holds annual VBS

Reno Baptist Church is holding its annual Vacation Bible School this week with classes for ages 4 to adults. Classes are held each day from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and everyone is invited to head out into the wilderness for the “In The Wild” VBS.

Rec department holding fall sports registration

Grady County Recreation Department is now holding registration for its fall sports series that includes Smurf flag football, 8U football, 10U football, 12U football, cheering and soccer. There is a $20 registration fee for Smurf football, cheering and soccer and a $30 fee for tackle football. For more information about the age requirements and deadline,  call the Recreation Department at 377-8221 or stop by the office at 1816 N. Broad St. in Cairo.

St. Paul M.B. to celebrate anniversary

St. Paul M.B. Church will be celebrating its 150th church anniversary beginning July 22 through July 28. Special services will be led by area churches, to be announced soon, and everyone in the community is invited to come and help celebrate this historic event.

Al-Anon meets Thursday mornings

Does someone close to you have a drinking or drug problem? Al-Anon Family Groups have one focus: to help friends and families of alcoholics. The local group meets in Cairo on Thursday mornings at 9 a.m. at the AA clubhouse, 3351 Hwy. 84, Cairo, Ga 38828. For more information, call Linda at (229) 221-5469. 

Storytime for Children Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays

Roddenbery Memorial Library officials remind everyone that now the renovations are complete at the library, there are several programs held in the library’s Children’s Room. Terrific Tales Storytime for ages 3-5 is held every Tuesday at 11 a.m. Plus, the Mother Goose Club has stories for children, ages birth to 3 on Thursdays at 11 a.m. All area children and their parents are invited to attend.
