THOMASVILLE — Charges are pending against a semi driver who was involved in a multi-vehicle accident Tuesday afternoon which resulted in several injuries.

Georgia State Patrol Trooper Grey Shiver said the semi driver, Derrick Stinson, was traveling northbound in the left lane of U.S. Highway 19 when he attempted to change lanes and failed to yield.

A Ford Taurus driven by Timothy Page, 30, was traveling northbound in the right lane and was hidden in the Stinson’s blind spot and was run off the roadway.

Page attempted to return to the road and struck the semi on its passenger-side fuel tank.

Shiver said the collision sent Page’s vehicle back onto the median and into a ditch, where it overturned.

Page sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital with his passenger, 28-year-old Angela Barber, and her three children, all under the age of 10, all of whom were also injured. 

A dog present in the vehicle sustained a head injury and was transported to Thomasville Animal Hospital.

A Dodge Challenger driven by Jamilah Taylor was struck by debris created by the collision, causing it to run off the road and into the same ditch, pinning Page.

Taylor, 44, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital and later discharged.

Shiver said a charge of failing to yield is pending against Stinson.

The incident occurred just before 11:30 a.m. near mile marker 16.
