“Our Dalton location will close after business on Sunday,” Jeff Hingher, senior marketing director for O’Charley’s said in an email Friday. “As a longtime part of this community, we appreciate our guests and the many friends we made over the years. We are grateful to our team members who so capably served our guests and are assisting them in transitioning to other stores or new employment.”

He declined to say why the restaurant is closing. Local management referred all comments to corporate headquarters.

Paul Howell had gotten off I-75 on his way to Florida for an early dinner Friday at the restaurant at 1520 W. Walnut Ave., which is located just off the interstate.

“I saw the sign and decided to come here,” he said. “I’m really surprised to hear they are closing. I’ve always liked their food and this seems like a good location.”

Hingher says gift cards may be redeemed at any O’Charley’s location. A full list of locations is at www.ocharleys.com.

O’Charley’s is the second well-know national brand to announce the closing of a Dalton location this month. Gold’s Gym, a fitness facility inside the Dalton Mall, is also closing at the end of this month.
