MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. — A Newton County man, accused in the brutal killing of an inmate earlier this month at Baldwin State Prison near Milledgeville, is also accused in another murder case in Georgia.
The suspect in both cases is Trinity Wayne Bussler, of Covington, authorities say.
Bussler and another state prison inmate, identified as Timothy Paul Dunigan, of Statesboro, are accused of choking, stabbing and setting afire 26-year-old David Michael Watson in his cell earlier this month at Baldwin State Prison.
Both men are charged with murder in connection with Watson’s death. They were arrested earlier this week and later taken to the Baldwin County Law Enforcement Center where they processed and photographed before being turned back over to officers with the Georgia Department of Corrections.
Bussler also is accused of shooting to death a 26-year-old Rockdale County woman on Aug. 30, 2018.
The victim, in that case, was identified as Yaritza Cerda, of Conyers. Authorities said they found Cerda’s body on Frontier Road in the Lakeview Estates neighborhood in Rockdale County.
Bussler, who was later arrested on charges of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Deputies and investigators with the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office found Bussler hiding inside a DeKalb County residence, off Old Covington Highway. He was taken into custody without incident.
In 2011, Bussler was found guilty of burglary and false imprisonment in Rockdale County Superior Court in Conyers. In May 2018, Bussler had just been released on probation from Hays State Prison, where he had served six years of a 20-year sentence.
After being arrested for probation violation, Bussler was later imprisoned at Baldwin State Prison.
At the time of Watson’s murder inside the prison, Bussler was serving out the remainder of his initial sentence that he received in Rockdale County.
