Delaney, who has committed to ABAC, was 5-1 against region opposition with an earned run average of 0.41 in 34 innings. He allowed only two earned runs on 20 hits and six walks while striking out 45. He also threw a no-hitter against Bainbridge.

Herndon, who has signed to play baseball at Sante Fe College, finished region play with a batting average of .514 while slugging an impressive .886.

Other first-team selections included pitcher Pace Mercer, catcher Tyler Carter, shortstop Zach Fletcher, and third baseman Shane Stephenson.

Second-team selections were first baseman Slade Taylor, second baseman Jarrod Johnson, outfielder Carson Odom, and designated hitter Mack McDowell. Luke Benton received honorable mention nomination as a utility player.

“The number of kids that were placed on all-region represents our season success — we were a team,” said head coach Ryan Strickland. “They played for each other and constantly put each other in positions to be successful, which showed up in their stats.

“I cannot be prouder of these young men and they way they have represented our school as well as the Thomas County community,” Strickland said. “Whether at home or on the road, we received a multitude of comments from coaches and by-standers on the way they played the game and conducted themselves. They carry themselves in public and compete in games with sportsmanship, pride, and discipline. They exemplify what is to be first-class players, respectful young men, and the excellence expected at Thomas County Central.”

Thomas County Central finished the season at 28-7, setting the record for most school wins in a season, as well as advancing to the Elite Eight before losing to two-time defending state champions Loganville High School.
