THOMASVILLE — A prowler allegedly looking into residents’ parked vehicles at night struck twice on the same day.

Police believe the same individual is the culprit in both incidents.

At 1:14 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a house in the 300 block of Tuxedo Drive, where residents said a surveillance camera showed a man entering their carport and taking a pack of cigarettes from a table and peeking into a parked BMW SUV.

The man walked to a Chevrolet Camaro parked outside the carport, but was too far away to be detected by the residence’s doorbell camera.

On Monday afternoon, an officer responded to the 200 block of Fairways Drive, where a resident reviewing surveillance video saw a man walk up to a car parked in the driveway at 3:24 a.m. that day and pull the door handle.

“We think it’s the same person,” said Maj. Wade Glover, Thomasville Police Department public information officer.

Videos show the suspect using a flashlight in both incidents.

Anyone who lives near the residences where the man was seen and has surveillance video is asked to look at footage to see if the suspect might have walked through their yards or otherwise be visible.

The suspect is described as black, wearing dark shorts, dark tennis shoes, dark gloves and a dark ball cap. He had a small goatee and possibly wore glasses.

“It as the same method of operation. He’s doing the same thing at both residences,” Glover said.
