Dancing competition to raise money for child advocacy center

DALTON, Ga. — Dalton’s Dancing Stars is at the Dalton Convention Center on Saturday at 5 p.m. The event pairs notable local Dalton personalities with experienced dancers to perform dance routines in a format similar to the TV show “Dancing With the Stars.” The GreenHouse Child Advocacy Center/Sexual Assault Center is partnering with the Charity Support Foundation to host the event, with proceeds benefiting The Greenhouse. Tickets can be purchased at www.daltonsdancingstars.com.

Semi truck struck by train

JASPER, Fla. — A semi truck was struck by a train in Hamilton County on Tuesday. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, Timothy St. Amant, 60, of Lake City, was traveling north on U.S. Highway 41, in a semi truck, approaching the intersection on SE 69th Boulevard, near Nutrien. The report states there was a train on the tracks also traveling north. According to FHP, St. Amant attempted to make a right turn onto SE 69th Blvd., as the train was crossing the roadway. The train struck the side of the trailer causing the semi to overturn. St. Amant and the train engineer, Hansel Conine, a 31-year-old from Valdosta, received no injuries.
