Building permitswaived until May 31
The Grady County Board of Commissioners voted recently to waive building permit fees for storm damage repairs until May 31. The board action is also retroactive for all storm related repairs back to last October. For more information, contact the Grady County Code Enforcement Department.
Relay for Life is May 4
The annual Grady County Relay for Life, to benefit the American Cancer Society, will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 4 until 10 p.m. The relay event will be held at Davis Park in downtown Cairo. There will be entertainment, games and assortment of food for those who attend and area businesses, groups, churches and individuals are encouraged to participate. Beulah M.B. Church plans Youth Day
Beulah Missionary Baptist Church will have Youth Day on Sunday, May 5 beginning at 3 p.m. The guest speaker for the service is Clinton Gurley and everyone in the community is invited to attend.
Free shredding event Friday
There will be a free community shredding event held this Friday, April 26 from 9 a.m. to noon at United National Bank. Secure Records Solutions will be providing this free service to the community. There is a limit of three bags or boxes per person. The destruction of hard drives and the recycling of electronics will also be available for an additional fee.
Women’s Conferencethis weekend
Full Gospel Chapel members, 1st Street, SW in Cairo, invite all area women to join them for their 2019 Women’s Conference to be held April 26 at 7 p.m. and April 27 at 8 a.m. A light breakfast and full lunch will be served on Saturday. The first 50 people to register will receive a gift bag. Contact the church to register.
Business After Hoursto be Hosted at Library
The Roddenbery Memorial Library and the Grady County Chamber of Commerce will be hosting Business After Hours on Thursday, April 27 at 5 p.m. The event will feature the FSU Jazz Duo, refreshments and the opportunity for chambers members to socialize and make connections with new friends. American Legionencourages vets to join
The American Legion Post No. 122 invites all area veterans, young and old, to be a part of their organization which meets the second Tuesday night of each month at the Masonic Lodge in Cairo at 7 p.m. There is a meeting served and all veterans are welcome to join the legion for fellowship and support.
Grady Republicans to meet
The Grady County Republican Party meets on the fourth Monday of each month at the Full Gospel Chapel, located at 826 1st Street, SW in Cairo at 7 p.m. Everyone is invited to join the group.
Grief Support group meets
Grief Share, a support group that offers help and encouragement for those who have lost a loved one, meets on Tuesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Cairo Christmas Center on Hwy. 188 in Cairo. For more information, contact Group Leaders Don and Lorenia Carter at 397-0281.
