Donations sought for storm relief

The Grady County Help Agency is accepting tax deductible donations to help with the tornado relief efforts. If you would like to make a monetary donation, please mail your checks to Help Agency, P.O. Box 1452, Cairo, GA 39828. Please make sure to write “tornado relief’ in the memo of the check.

Roddenbery Library to feature world-renowned musician

One of the premier autoharpists in the world, Adam Miller, will be at the Roddenbery Memorial Library on Sunday, April 7 at 3 p.m. in the Auditorium singing, “Folksongs of the Great American Railroad.” A renowned American folksinger and natural-born storyteller, Miller accompanies his rich, resonant baritone voice with lively finger-picking acoustic guitar and stunningly beautiful autoharp melodies. A masterful entertainer who never fails to get his audience singing along, he has distinguished himself as one of the greatest interpreters of American folksong and folktales, and as a performer who appeals to audiences of all ages. Whigham UMC to hold Celebration of Art

The Whigham United Methodist Church will be holding a special Celebration of Our History in Art on Sunday, March 24 at 3 p.m. There will be a gallery viewing of artwork, meet the artists, and a reception following the program. Everyone is invited to attend.

FFA holding annual plant sale

The Cairo High School FFA is having its annual Spring Plant Sale. FFA Advisor Tracy Champagne invites everyone to come pick from a great selection of vegetable and flowering plants including tomatoes and peppers plus bedding plants such as coleus, geraniums, begonias, impatiens and gerber daisies. The club will also be selling ferns, hanging baskets, landscape plants and trees. 

Tetanus vaccine for tornado recovery workers

The Grady County Health Department has announced it is offering the tetanus vaccine for anyone who has been working in the recovery efforts after the tornado damage in Cairo. The shots given to workers in the field are free and to those who get the vaccination at the health department, it is billed to insurance or made available at no or low cost. Tetanus is an infection caused by bacteria that usually enters the body through breaks in the skin and adults should have a booster shot every 10 years.  For more information, call the Grady County Health Department. 

Grief Support Group meets each Tuesday night 

Grief Share, a support group that offers help and encouragement for those who have lost a loved one, meets on Tuesday nights from 6-8 p.m. at the Cairo Christmas Center on Highway 188 in Cairo. For more information, contact Group Leaders Don and Lorenia Carter at 397-0281.

Bethel MB Church to celebrate Everybody’s Birthday

The Bethel MB Church in Pine Park will be celebrating Everybody’s Birthday during a program on Saturday, March 23 at 6:30 p.m. Everyone in the community is invited to come and join in the celebration. 

St. Paul’s Church to celebrate Family and Friends Day

The St. Paul’s Church of the Sixteens Community will be celebrating Family and Friends Day on March 23 starting at 7 p.m. The Rev. Ronnie Harrison, pastor of the New Home MB Church in Whigham will be the guest speaker. The Rev. Thomas Garland, pastor, and the entire congregation invite everyone to attend.

 

Tabernacle Baptist revival 

Tabernacle Baptist Church will holding revival services through Thursday, March 21. The services will feature Evangelist Bobby Barnes and will be held on Sunday at 11 a.m. and 6 p.m. and Monday-Thursday nights at 7 p.m. The church is located at 3224 Highway 84 East in Cairo.
