Runners, walkers hit Thomasville’s historic streets

It was a beautiful crisp morning for the 2019 Heritage 5K Run, 5K Walk and 1 Mile Fun Run, with over 200 participants in attendance. All three courses take participants through one of Thomasville’s historic districts, representing Thomasville’s heritage. All three events this year were chip-timed on a USA Track & Field certified course. 

Place finishers for the 5K Run and 5K Walk were awarded with cash prizes. The 1 Mile Fun Run place finishers were awarded with medals.

Proceeds from the event benefit summer camp scholarships at the Thomasville YMCA. 

The overall winner in the 5K run was Dustin Reynolds, with a time of 18:58. The overall female winner was Rosalie White in 23:11.

In the 5K walk, the overall male winner was Cameron Stephens, with a time of 29:43. The overall female winner was Emmy Tancsics with a time of 35:47. The overall male winner of the 1-mile fun run was Glen Knight, age 10, at 6:47. Gina Morabito, 10, was the overall female winner of the 1 mile fun run at 7:04.

Jerger Elementary School won for the school based on participation and for school based on enrollment in the 1 mile fun run.
