Feb. 25 | CLCP Trivia Bee! | 6 p.m. at Southern Regional Technical College

Head over to SRTC, Building D at 6 for the CLCP’s annual Trivia Bee. Over 12 teams sponsored and created by various businesses and organizations all over the county will be competing to win the crown of Trivia Masters! Proceeds and donations from sponsors all benefit the Certified Literate Community Program. Go cheer on your team.

March 1 | Enlightening Bites: Pebble Hill Plantation Presents | Noon

Stop in for our monthly lunch power hour lecture series. This Friday, Whitney White, Director of Pebble Hill Plantation, will be presenting “Experiences from ‘The Horse & The Country House’ Study Programme.” Bring your lunch with you and learn something new! Light refreshments served.

March 12 | Book to Art Book Club | 3 p.m.

Join us for the book club that pulls the ‘art’ out of literature. This month, we will be discussing the musical mystery, “Bellweather Rhapsody” by Kate Racculia. Sign up at the Circulation Desk and check out your copy.

March 13 | Climate Change: Our Vanishing Environment | 1 p.m.

Join us as we welcome Kevin Hiers and Dr. Mark Blackmore for a one-on-one education in the effects of climate change. Kevin Hiers is a researcher at Tall Timbers Research Station who co-authored the Southeast chapter of the Fourth National Climate Assessment and Dr. Mark S. Blackmore is a professor at VSU, specializing in the biology of mosquitoes and their natural parasites and other aspects of vector biology and disease ecology.

March 14 | Beginner Gardening and Composting | 1 p.m.

Spring is approaching and there is no better time to try your hand at starting a home garden. Stop in for a workshop with Sydni Barwick, Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent with UGA Extension, as she shares knowledge on starting your own garden and at-home composting bin.

March 14 | Community Conversations: TCPLS Ten-Year Plan | 5:30 to 7 p.m.

We want your input. The library will be hosting a public meeting to discuss our upcoming 10-year strategic plan. We would like to hear your thoughts and ideas on how your public libraries can progress to meet the needs of the community in the forthcoming years. Held in the Henry Flipper Room of the Thomasville Library. Refreshments offered.

We are currently updating the Thomas County Resource Directory for the 2019-2020 year. If you have an entry or would like to be included in this year’s book, contact Samantha Hanchett at (229) 225-5252 or email your changes to samantha@tcpls.org.

Computer and Technology Classes:

• Wednesday and Friday, March 6 and 8 at 10 a.m. — Intermediate Computer Basics. This week we will be teaching how to open and close applications and effectively search the internet.

• Wednesday, March 13 at 10 a.m. — Genealogy and Social Media. Learn the secrets to connecting relatives together via social media sites.

• Friday, March 15 at 10 a.m. — Intermediate Excel. Enhance your excel skills and learn to create the perfect spreadsheet.

TEENS

• Thursdays at 3:30 p.m. — Anime Club.

• Fridays at 3 p.m. — Gamers’ Club. Play Xbox 360, piece together a puzzle, challenge someone to giant checkers, build a robot and more.

• Monday and Wednesday, March 4 and 6 at 3:30 p.m. — Paint your legacy for generations to admire for years to come! Customize one of the bookends used in the Teen Section. Paint a scene inspired by a book, anime or simply your own imagination.

• Tuesday, Feb. 26 and March 12 at 4 p.m. — Teen Advisory Board. Make your voice heard and give/share advice with your peers.

• Toddler Time is on. Join us in the Story Room for stories, songs and a super fun activity! Toddler Time is for ages 2 to 4 years of age. It happens every Thursday at 10.30 a.m. Our next meeting will be Feb. 28.

• Join the club: LEGO CLUB! Every Thursday at 4 p.m., meet us in the Story Room and build something awesome with your friends! Lego Club is for children ages 5 to 11.

• Every Friday at 10:30 a.m., is Baby Hour in the Story Room. Join us on March 1 with your children up to 2 years old as we sing songs, recite rhymes and read stories.

• “I didn’t do it!” Ralph did! Stop in on March 9 at 1 p.m. for a movie and popcorn. We will be watching the Disney film, “Ralph Breaks the Internet.”

• Every Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. Join us at the library for a game of Quiddler! Quiddler an incredibly fun card game that challenges players to create words out of an increasing hand of cards.

• Thursday, Feb. 28 at 4:30 p.m. — Craft Time. Today we will be playing with scratch art.

• Thursday, March 14 at 4:30 p.m. — Craft Time. Stop in for a messy and fun handprint art craft.

• Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 2 p.m. — Adult Bingo. Socialize and win a prize. Refreshments served.

• Monday, March 4 at 4:30 p.m. — Lego Play. Build something cool with Legos.

• Tuesday, March 5 at 4:30 p.m. — Writing Prompt. In honor of National Oreo Day, we will be writing a short piece on our favorite cookie and enjoying some deliciousness with milk.

• Thursday, March 7 at 4:30 p.m. — Teen Book Club. This week we will be discussing the classic “Hatchet.”

• Thursday, March 7 at 3 p.m. — Lego Play Day. Come in and build something amazing with Legos.
