TU softball sweeps Edward Waters

THOMASVILLE, Ga. — The Thomas University softball team defeated Edward Waters (Fla.) in a pair of games Tuesday afternoon at Armory Field. TU won the first game 4-1 and the second 9-1.
Thomas (5-3) next travels to Alabama for the Gulf Shores Invitational Tournament, held March 1-3. The Night Hawks face Williams Baptist College (Ark.) and No. 12 Freed-Hardeman University (Tenn.) on the first day.
Game One
Edward Waters scored first with one in the second inning, then Thomas battled back with two runs in the second, one in the fifth and one in the sixth.
Emily Bowne picked up the win for Thomas on the mound, striking out three while allowing just one run from two hits.
Designated hitter Addyson Mauldin and shortstop Holly Campbell were both 2-for-3 with a run scored.
Game Two
EWC again took the early 1-0 lead, but Thomas scored seven over the first three innings and added a pair in the fifth to earn the 9-1 win.
Thomas collected 16 hits in the game, led by a 3-of-3 performance from catcher Raele Rouw. She recorded a triple, a double, two RBI and scored three runs.
Pitcher Margarita Sena tossed the first four innings, earning the win for TU. She struck out four and allowed just one run from two hits. Rebecca Boesen came in for relief, striking out two in her one inning of work.
