Two seriously injured in Branford crash
BRANFORD, Fla. — A crash Monday afternoon involving a tractor and a pickup truck left two from Branford in serious condition. According to the Florida Highway Patrol, 24-year-old Brigham Goold, of Chiefland, had stopped on U.S. Highway 129 while headed north around 1:30 p.m. to make a left-hand turn on 57th Drive in an crop spraying tractor. With the tractor stopped, a GMC pickup, driven by 24-year-old Logan Hoyles, of Branford, attempted to pass, the FHP report states. When the tractor still attempted to make its turn, its front left struck the front right of the pickup causing it to overturn onto the west shoulder of U.S. 129 facing north, the report states. Hoyles and 25-year-old passenger Ashley Jenkins, also of Branford, both suffered serious injuries and were transported to UF Health Shands Hospital in Gainesville. Goold was not injured in the accident, but he is being charged with failure to yield to oncoming traffic/vehicle passing on the left when making a left turn.
