History center, L-P house participate in Super Museum Sunday

The Thomasville History Center and Lapham-Patterson House are once again participating in the Georgia Historical Society’s Super Museum Sunday, a statewide event and part of the 2019 Georgia History Festival, on Sunday, Feb. 10. 

The program invites Georgians to experience the state’s rich history and cultural life and enjoy free admission to participating historic sites, house museums, art museums and other points of interest throughout Georgia, including the Thomasville History Center. This year, Super Museum Sunday will feature nearly 100 venues across the state, the most in the event’s history.

Super Museum Sunday is free and open to the public. The Thomasville History Center and Lapham-Patterson House will be open for Super Museum Sunday from noon until 4 p.m. Guests visiting the Thomasville History Center will enjoy self-guided tours and scavenger hunts of the museum property. Guests visiting the Lapham-Patterson House will enjoy guided tours of the unique Victorian home.

The Thomas County Historical Society was formed in 1952 and opened the Thomas County Museum of History within the Flowers-Roberts House in 1972. Since 1972, the collections have grown to include more than 500,000 artifacts and archival materials and eight historic structures. Now known as the Thomasville History Center, the organization, in partnership with the state of Georgia, also operates the historic Lapham-Patterson House. The board, staff, and growing membership invite you to join the Thomasville History Center in its dedication to ensuring that the appreciation of our unique history remains an intrinsic and unbroken thread connecting the past and future through settings that advance our story.
