MOULTRIE, Ga. — Colquitt County Coroner Verlyn Brock identified a man found dead Monday morning as 66-year-old Clarence McIntyre.

Owners of a dry cleaning business discovered his body after they arrived to open in the morning, Brock said.

“He was found at about 7 a.m.,” Brock said. “They had seen him lying in the sidewalk at Beason Equipment Co. back of Baell Mercantile, up a couple of buildings at 720 First St. N.E.”

McIntyre had a laceration near his eye, Brock said, but it was not immediately known whether that injury played a role in his death. Preliminary evidence did not indicate that foul play was involved, but investigators are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause and manner of death.

Brock said he expects to know more on Tuesday after the medical examination at a Georgia Bureau of Investigation facility.
