MOULTRIE, Ga. — Moultrie police have teamed up with the Georgia Division of Family and Children Services this year to help make the holidays brighter for needy children.

Drivers passing by the Moultrie Police Department station on First Street Southwest may have seen a cruiser parked on the sidewalk outside the building. The idea is to “cram the cruiser” full of toys that will be distributed to children in Colquitt County.

The toy drive is for children who will not be staying with their parents.

It is “for children who have been placed with other family members or friends of their family” by DFCS, Moultrie Police Department Deputy Chief David Corona said.

The cruiser will be moving around the community to various locations around the community to be more visible to more residents. It will be at Wal-Mart from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on Dec. 15.

Toys are being accepted for ages 3 through 16, with the most need for those ages 8 and up.

Clothing also is an acceptable donation, Corona said, as are gift cards.

Those wishing to donate can drop off items at the police department from 8 a.m.-5 p.m. on weekdays at 128 First St. S.W.
