Although Mrs. Mixon was not an attorney, she served the legal profession, the justice system and the state of Georgia in numerous, significant capacities. A retired educator, she represented the public on the Investigative Panel of the Disciplinary Board for the State Bar of Georgia and was a doorkeeper for the Georgia State Senate for many years, in addition to many other avenues of service at the state and local levels.

She appropriately received the Liberty Bell Award in 2016 from the Tifton Judicial Circuit Bar Association for her work in strengthening the public’s understanding and respect for the law and our court system. In 2010, the State Bar of Georgia established the Eunice L. Mixon Award in her honor for statewide recognition of a Georgia citizen for his or her lifetime contributions to the State Bar of the judicial branch of government.

Georgia’s lawyers and judges are appreciative of Eunice Mixon’s lifetime of service and many generous contributions to the cause of justice in our state. She will be missed and remembered.
