Club women met at the Historic Downtown Tifton Welcome Center and were welcomed to Tifton by Tifton’s mayor, Julie Smith. Mayor Smith invited all the ladies to visit downtown Tifton since they were just down the street from the shops and attractions.

The GFWC Georgia Federation of Women’s Club State President, Tina Daniel, and State Director of Junior Clubs, Becky Bolton, were present and gave a summary of the projects and interest of the GFWC Georgia club women for the two years of this administration.

After a business meeting and reports about club activities, the ladies heard from speaker, Nancy Bryan from Ruth’s Cottage and the Patticake House. Domestic Violence Prevention and Awareness is an area of emphasis for the General Federation of Women’s Club, the international organization of GFWC South West District. Bryan shared the concerns for domestic violence prevention and the importance of education in our area. She shared the work they do in the judicial circuit. A donation was presented to Ruth’s Cottage and the Patticake House as an appreciation for Bryan attending the meeting.

Presiding at the meeting was Dianne Barlow, GFWC South West District President. Barlow is a member of the Albany Woman’s Club.  Meeting chairmen for this meeting were Genie McCook, Tifton, and Donna Crowe, Sylvester.  Also serving as officers of South West District from Tifton are Bonnie Sayles, treasurer and Shirene Daniell, parliamentary advisor.

Opportunity tickets were available to purchase to raise funds for the work of the GFWC South West District.
