It is back to Friday night football for 7-2 Fitzgerald, who have played their last two games on Saturday following Hurricane Michael. It may be a game night Fitzgerald coach Tucker Pruitt wants to keep as the Hurricane have won both starts, 36-21 over Thomasville and 21-3 against Early County.

The latest Saturday victory, over Early, saw quarterbacks Kody Krause and Justin Reliford both run for touchdowns, though Krause’s was on a handoff. Fitzgerald has won four straight games.

If any team is as hot as Fitzgerald at the moment, it is Brooks.

The Trojans sat out Friday on a bye, but defeated Early Oct. 15, 39-20.

In that game, according to MaxPreps, the Trojans’ offense featured a number of strong performances. Ni’tavious Burrus completed 15 of 20 passes for 270 yards and four touchdowns. Jacolby Brown was 5-of-6 passing with a touchdown, which was only the second most impressive stat line of his. Brown caught six passes for 230 yards and three touchdowns.

Brooks has won three consecutive contests. Their only losses are to Clinch County and Thomas County Central. Fitzgerald has dropped games to Irwin County and Dodge County, schools that have combined to 16-1 this year.

Tonight’s game is the regular season finale for Fitzgerald, who will rest up next week for the postseason.

Regardless of result, the Hurricane are not only going to the state tournament, but will host an opening round game as the worst they can finish is second place. Thomasville, Berrien and Early have all lost two games and thus unable to catch Fitzgerald.
