Tiftarea students explore about Hispanic culture

TIFTON — Tiftarea Academy 6th graders have recently completed a two week unit on Hispanic heritage in literature. 

The students were exposed to various forms of Hispanic culture.  They discussed the countries that make up the Hispanic Culture. They read “La Bamba” by Hispanic author Gary Soto and watched a video of the first Hispanic pop star Ritchie Valens.

The students had a Spanish word scavenger hunt using QR codes and enjoyed chips and salsa.

The 6th graders listened to different selections of Latin music and wrote musical journals. They watched several videos of Latin dances such as the Paso Doble, the Samba, and the Fandango and learned how to do the Macarena and practiced salsa dancing.
