Chase leads to drug arrest

- The Suwannee County Sheriff's Office recovered 256 grams of synthetic cannabinoids and 14 grams of MDMA along with several plastic baggies in Rodrick Livingston's backpack.
LIVE OAK, Fla. — A Tuesday morning traffic stop led to a chase on foot and a Live Oak man being arrested on drug charges.
According to the Suwannee County Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Charles Wadford attempted to make a traffic stop on Rodrick Lewis Livingston at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday for driving with a suspended license.
The 31-year-old suspect ignored the flashing lights and sped up in an attempt to elude the authorities, the report states.
The report states that the suspect swerved back and forth through oncoming traffic at a high rate of speed while also “fumbling through” the back seat of the car.
After driving into a residential neighborhood in the Oakwood Forest subdivision off County Road 795 just outside of Live Oak, the suspect stopped suddenly at the end of a cul-de-sac and jumped out of the car, according to the report.
The suspect fled on foot into a wooded area with a blue backpack, the report states.
Deputies, with the help of K9 officers Loki and Lexi along with their handlers Justin Stout and Brian Barrs, quickly apprehended the suspect, according to the report.
The backpack was recovered and contained 256 grams of synthetic cannabinoids and 14 grams of MDMA along with several plastic baggies, the report states.
The suspect’s driver’s license was also found in the backpack, while a digital scale and a razor blade were found in the car, according to the report.
Livingston was charged with trafficking drugs – phenethylamines (10 grams or more), possession of synthetic narcotics with the intent to sell, manufacture or deliver, resisting officer/arrest, flee and elude LEO, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while license suspended.
