TIFTON — The Tiftarea House of Hope raised more than $7,500 to support the women’s shelter during the third annual Buckets of Hope fundraiser.
The fundraiser ran at the Tifton Mall from Aug. 17-27. The prize drawings were on Aug. 27.
The audience and passers-by were invited to participate in drawing the winning name from the 20 buckets.
Martine Hill, director of the program, said that she felt all the winners would be happy.
“It’s for a worthy cause,” she said. “We have people donate even if they don’t get tickets.”
The Tiftarea House of Hope is a faith-based, non-denominational emergency shelter and transitional residents for women, either with or without children. It is currently the only shelter for women and children in Tift County.
At the time of the drawing, the shelter was serving five women and was in the process of taking in a sixth.
Hill said that donations for the 501c3 organization are always needed and welcome.
Anyone interested may contact Hill at (229) 382-9010 or Rosemary Hightower at (229) 402-2610, or mail in donations to P.O. Box 7021, Tifton, GA 31793.
