Kemp, Harrelson win Tift County

TIFTON — Brian Kemp has won Tift County in the runoff election between him and Casey Cagle for the Republican nomination for Georgia governor, according to the unofficial Tift County results.
State results are still being counted.
Kemp received 67.56 percent (1,735 votes) of the Tift County vote, compared to Cagle’s 32.44 percent (833 votes).
Rusty Harrelson won the District 6 seat for the Tift County Board of Education, bringing in 305 votes, compared to Jimmy Cargle’s 266 votes.
In the race for the lieutenant governor Republican nomination, Geoff Duncan won Tift County with 56.45 percent of the vote. David Shafer got 43.55 percent.
Brad Raffensperger earned 63 percent of the Tift County vote for the Republican nomination for secretary of state. David Belle Isle won 37 percent.
In the state school superintendent Democrat nomination runoff, Otha E. Thornton Jr. narrowly defeated Sid Chapman in Tifton County, with Thornton earning 70 votes and Chapman getting 66 votes.
