SGBC announces executive leadership promotions

- South Georgia Bank Holding Company recently promoted four individuals within its executive leadership team. President Glenn Pait Willis, Jr has been elected to serve as CEO of South Georgia Banking Company. Dr Joe Turner has been named the bank’s new chairman. Melinda Moore has been named executive vice president and chief operations officers and Sam McCard will now serve as executive vice president of the organization.
TIFTON — At its annual shareholders’ meeting May 24, South Georgia Bank Holding Company announced the promotion of four individuals within the executive leadership team, according to a press release.
Continuing in his role as president, Glenn Pait Willis Jr., has been elected to serve as Chief Executive Officer of South Georgia Banking Company.
A second generation executive, Willis’ banking career began in 1985 at SGBC where he was named president in 2007.
A native of Tift County, Willis graduated from Tift County High School and continued his education with an Associate of Science Degree at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College.
Anticipating a career in banking, Willis obtained a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in accounting at the University of Georgia and went on to achieve professional accreditation at the Georgia Bankers Association Banking School in Athens.
Dr. Joe Turner has been named the bank’s new chairman of the board.
With more than 54 years of experience in business and leadership in Tift County, Turner has served on the SGBC Board of Directors since 1975.
A native of Ashburn, he earned his undergraduate degree from Emory University and a medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia. He then completed an internal medicine residency and a cardiac fellowship at Grady Memorial Hospital.
Melinda Moore has been named executive vice president and chief operations officer.
A native of Tift County, Moore began working at South Georgia Banking Company as a freshman at ABAC and continued her education at the University of Georgia as well as the Georgia Bankers Association Banking School.
She started out as a part-time employee in bookkeeping and has risen to the top of management overseeing the continual changes in bookkeeping, information technology and online security.
Sam McCard, chief credit officer, has been named executive vice president of the organization.
With more than 20 years in banking, McCard offers unrivaled experience in commercial and agriculture lending. A native of Turner County, he also serves as chairman of the loan committee for SGBC, overseeing the business and personal loan procedures for the bank.
