MOULTRIE, Ga. — Police have reduced the most serious charge against a Colquitt County man accused of attacking his girlfriend just two days after he pleaded guilty to a previous assault of the same woman.

The felony aggravated assault charge filed June 6 against Jonathan Shane Kastelic was dismissed and he was instead charged with battery, a misdemeanor offense.

Police arrested Kastelic, 28, two days after he pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of Chelsi Luckie, 200 block Seminole Drive.

This new arrest of Kastelic occurred after Luckie showed up the evening of June 6 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center with injuries to her head and shoulder, police said.

Luckie reported that Kastelic choked her and pushed her head against a wall.

The dispute reportedly happened after Kastelic became enraged because Luckie locked her keys inside her car.

“There was insufficient probable cause to sustain the charge of aggravated assault,” Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Ronald Jordan said. “After further information it was altered.”

Kastelic pleaded guilty on June 4 to a prior aggravated assault against Luckie and was sentenced to six years’ probation. As a condition of probation he was ordered to have “no violent contact” with Luckie.
